London City Tops the World

30 June 2009, Colliers International – London remains the most expensive parking district in the world, with London – City’s monthly unreserved median rate at US$1,020.29 leading the way and West End taking the second place at US$955.51.  The findings are based on Colliers International’s latest global parking rate survey 2009, which covers 133 locations in the world.

In Asia Pacific, the top five most expensive parking rates were seen in Hong Kong, Australia and Tokyo.

Hong Kong saw the most expensive parking cost, which retains its top ranking in Asia Pacific and is ranked the fourth most
expensive worldwide in 2009.  Its median monthly parking rate was US$748, registering merely 1% increase from last year.  Except Hong Kong and Perth, the other three locations in the top five recorded negative changes from the previous year, with that of Sydney falling the most by 24%.

The parking rate in Bangkok Central Business District is relative low compared with other countries due o the property price in Thailand is still undervalued. The parking rate remained stable or increase slightly. The parking rate in the area of Central Lumpini showed the highest which is in the range of THB 2,500 – 3,500 per month.

Amongst the locations included in the survey, Mumbai sees the least expensive parking rate in Asia Pacific (median monthly rate of US$25.68), followed by that of Jakarta at US$27.20.
